The entire character was created from scratch.

CONTENTS:

  • Ready to use and upload Unity Avatar Package
    • For both PC and Quest
  • Blend file v3.4.1+ one for PC, and one for Quest
    • Inside PC blend file there is also simplified base body which can be useful for example when creating custom outfits
  • FBXes and Textures

UPLOAD PROCESS:

  1. Download VRChat Creator Companion and create Avatar Project
  2. Import Fumia package
  3. If you want to upload PC version:
    1. Open FumiaPC scene
    2. Upload avatar by VRC SDK panel
  4. If you want to upload Quest version:
    1. Open FumiaQuest scene
    2. Click Switch Build Target to Android in VRChat SDK Builder tab
    3. Upload avatar by VRC SDK panel
  5. If you want to upload Fallback version:
    1. You have to upload both PC and Quest versions to the same avatar_id first.
    2. Start uploading again Quest version on Android (Quest) build, but with Use For Fallback checked during uploading

TECHNICAL INFO:

  • GENERAL:
    • Uses 3.0 SDK
    • Supports full body tracking
    • 50 face expressions and plus around 60 combo gestured (combined expressions using hand gestures) by CGE system.
    • Around 100 face blendshapes
    • Custom hand gestures.
  • PC VERSION:
    • Good” performance rank
    • Triangles: 52834 in total (character + bunny)
    • 2 skinned mesh renderers (1 for character and 1 for bunny)
    • 6 physbones (4 for character and 2 for bunny)
    • 13.53 MB In-game download size
    • 37.61 MB In-game texture memory (VRAM)
    • Uses Poiyomi Toon 8.1.156 shader.
      • Unless you want make changes to materials, you don’t have to import Poiyomi shader, because of Lock Material feature.
      • I cannot guarantee that it will work in the same exact manner for newer versions. However, if something breaks heavily, please let me know on Discord.
    • Uses 6 materials in total.
      • 5 - Body, Face, Expressions, Hair, Pajama
      • 1 - Bunny accessory
      • Every material has it’s own textures
    • Textures resolution mostly 2k or less
      • Color, normal maps and few masks for shader uses
    • Uses constraints to make deformations little better
      • Twist bones, volume bones, and knee bend mechanic
    • Polka dot pattern on pajama, bunny drawing on chest pocket and bunny pattern on socks are 3 separate textures used as decals in poiyomi shader. These can be swapped for other patterns and textures
  • QUEST/FALLBACK VERSION:
    • Good” performance rank
    • Triangles: 9928 (character, no bunny)
    • 1 skinned mesh renderer
    • 4 physbones
    • 2.19MB In-game download size
    • 2.67MB In-game texture memory (VRAM)
    • Uses 1 material and one atlased 2k texture
    • Due to VRChat limitations on Quest, there are few differences between PC and Quest version
      • No bunny
      • No cosmetics (hue, saturation, minimum brightness)
      • No toe control
      • Only glasses toggle (no socks toggle)
      • No constraints, means no deformation corrections
      • Polka dot pattern on pajama, bunny drawing on chest pocket and bunny pattern on socks are baked into texture, unlike on PC version

FEATURES:

  • Outfit Toggles - Toggle glasses, left sock and right sock.
  • Cosmetics - Hue and Saturation changes for pajama, hair and eyes. I recommend use Yolo colors first to randomize color and find what you like, and then fine tune with sliders if needed. There's also Reset to bring back values to default ones.
  • Nose Blob - Toggles on mechanic of spawning blob from the nose each few seconds. It has physbone attached so it swings around (easily to spot in the video). It has randomized "cooldown" of occurence every few seconds. It is synced for other users so it always appears at the same time for everyone.
  • Face Expressions - 50 face expressions to toggle. Few of them are already used by hand gestures, but hand gestures also can be combined to make expressions which aren't in this menu.
  • Gesture Expression Sets - There are two additional sets of face expressions to choose from when doing gestures. This also means, combined face expressions are also different.
  • Bunbun
    • Toggle
    • Can change position to Left Hand, Right Hand, Chest or Head
    • Contacts - There is contact mechanic that allows to change position of Bunbun without expression menu. It can be done by stretching any of bunbun physbone to some extent. If it's stretched and hand that's grabbing physbone near Chest or Head, it should change position to those. I tried to make it easy and intuitive, but it's a bit wonky, so there's toggle to turn off completely.
    • ??? - This hints hidden mechanic of bunbun, which is zipper on it's back. Zipper (physbone) can be grabbed and pulled, so zipper opens. After that, another hand can be put inside bunbun. This allows to make bunbun poses by doing regular hand gestures on that hand. This also disables face expressions of Fumia on that hand, but keeps it on the other.
  • Settings
    • Fist Analog Blend - This toggles analog behaviour of fist gesture. I found that when disabled, transitions between hand gestures are a bit more appealing to look at, at cost of "gradual fist closing" when squeezing grip/trigger on controller. This doesn't make any visual difference when index finger tracking is active.
    • Fingertracking (index) - This toggles index finger tracking (if you use index knuckles). There are custom made hand gestures.
    • Minimum Brightness - Allows character to be more emissive which means, it will be more visible in dark environments.
    • Toe gestures - This toggles toe gestures. They're made by doing hand gestures. They're not actively tracked when using index fingertracking. They're reacting to actual vrchat hand gestures.
    • Headpat Exp Toggle - This toggles face expression (named "Pleasant"), when receiving headpats from others. This doesn't work locally so you can't headpat yourself, sorry :sadCatFace: . Overrides any other current face expression.
    • Prone Toggle - This toggles prone animation. I found that when on VR without full body, sometimes you might not want prone animation to trigger, for example when you want to go lower by using OVR space grab. It doesn't make difference on fullbody, but on Desktop it might look weird/fun, or when you go too low on VR.
    • Restore Tracking - Restores tracking. Most useful when using Full Body Tracking while sitting in station.
